Christmas Around the World and Celebration of The Holidays of Light at the Museum of Science and Industry

Museum of Science and Industry Christmas Around the WorldChristmas Around the World & Holidays of Light!

Be sure to take a day or two and visit the Museum of Science Industry this holiday season. You are in for a treat!

The Museum of Science and Industry has an especially magical quality around the holidays. In this special exhibition, you’ll see how nations around the world celebrate this unique time of year. In addition to Christmas, the Holidays of Light display will introduce young visitors to other cultural celebrations such as Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Diwali, and Ramadan.

Decorated Trees

The 72nd annual Christmas Around the World exhibit began in 1942 as a tribute to American Allies during World War II. It contained a single tree, decorated by volunteers whose native countries were deep in the throes of war.

Today it’s now a small forest of more than 60 trees, each adorned according to different international customs
The center of the museum’s rotunda features the 45-foot Grand Tree, decorated with 30,000 lights and 1,000 ornaments
The area also includes falling “snow”
Live Performances

The mood is made even more festive by ethnic song and dance performances on the Holiday Stage.
